Design Inspiration & Process:
This piece came together as one of the very first quilts to utilize what would become Fast-Piece Applique. It was inspired by walks on the beaches of Mendocino in the day and also during the evening with the moon full. Also, included here were stylized redwood trees. All things that my husband and I enjoyed during our Mendocino get-away.

This quilt contains a large piece of hand painted velveteen along with several silk pieces and commercial cottons. The moon, ravens and fabric tree embellishments were stitched in place after the base quilt was put together with the method that would be call Fast-Piece Applique.
